Strange Imaginary Animals - Eighth Blackbird

Strange Imaginary Animals is a very apt title for this collection of new (many in world-premiere performances) compositions for chamber ensemble, all of them requiring the players to employ "extended" techniques -- strings and winds are treated like percussion instruments, pianos physically altered and played without using the keyboard, etc. Featured works include new music by the likes of Steven Mackey (surprise!), Jennifer Higdon and David M. Gordon. A must for all new-music collections.
