On a Wire is eighth blackbird's first concerto recording. This premiere release from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's in-house label, ASO Media, features the Grammy Award-winning ensemble performing with the ASO under Music Director Robert Spano in Jennifer Higdon's acclaimed new virtuoso concerto for sextet and orchestra, On a Wire.
Also on this recording is Michael Gandolfi's new choral work, QED: Engaging Richard Feynman, featuring the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Both works were commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony, and given world-premiere performances in June 2010 at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
The production team included long-time ASO collaborators Elaine Martone and Michael Bishop.
