Fund-a-Fellow

Fund a Blackbird Creative Lab Fellow
Empower the Next Generation of Performers and Composers

Eighth Blackbird invites you to be among the first to seize an unprecedented opportunity to support the next generation of music innovators.

After over two decades of performance, pedagogical and entrepreneurial success in classical music, we are embarking on our most ambitious project to date: the launch of the Blackbird Creative Laboratory, our summer training institute. In keeping with our ensemble’s mission of championing a distinctive, dynamic and engaging performance aesthetic, The Lab aims to empower the next generation of performers and composers. This intensive, human-centered experience will immerse 30 uniquely talented fellows selected from an international pool of applicants in a learn-by-doing, exploratory process of creating new work. Discovering and developing an audacious curatorial vision will help launch Lab fellows on their paths as provocateurs and visionaries in the arts.

One of the most exceptional aspects of The Lab is that the program is tuition-free for all fellows, including room and board. We ask for your partnership in helping Eighth Blackbird launch the first three years of The Lab in the most robust way possible. Be bold. Take part in our inaugural Fund-a-Fellow initiative. Join us on this journey in support of the future of music innovation and leadership.

The cost per year to fund a fellow is $10,000. Co-sponsorships at the $2500 and $5000 level are also possible.  When you fund a fellow, it is a unique opportunity forge a meaningful relationship with a young artist, while also supporting the future trajectory of the Blackbird Creative Laboratory.

Choose to fund a fellow in your own name, or honor the memory of someone close to you – for one year, multiple years, or in perpetuity.

Fund-a-Fellow exclusive donor benefits include:

  • Naming privileges for your funded fellow position
  • Getting to know your fellow over a meal on-site at The Lab in Ojai, CA
  • Exclusive access to rehearsals for The Lab’s final concerts
  • Invitations to private VIP donor events at The Lab
  • Invitations to Chicago VIP events for The Lab
  • Listing next to your funded fellow in Lab concert programs
