Chicago Artists Workshop
The Chicago Artists Workshop (CAW) began with a question: “How can Eighth Blackbird support other artists?” After decades of pursuing our own mission, we found ourselves in an extremely fortunate position: we had an audience, a platform, and a physical space to rehearse, move, experiment, and create. Recognizing the advantage of this space, we decided we could offer it to other artists and see meaningful impact. Thus, CAW began in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
CAW’s Tenets:
Offer a physical space to artists in the Chicagoland area
Encourage extraordinary artistry and creativity rather than adhesion to a particular genre or discipline
Offer artists A/V services through utilization of our cinematic multi-camera configuration, full lighting and audio support, and modern performance aesthetic
Hold multi-day workshop residencies to rehearse, create, and refine production curation
CAW ran from 2020-21 and is currently taking a pause. We plan to restart CAW in the near future: sign up for our newsletters to see all updates!
